Job Description

HPG Mechanical has been offering professional plumbing services to Calgarians for over 50 years. The company was started in 1971 and operated as Hank’s Plumbing & Gasfitting Ltd.

Michael & Glenda Edworthy purchased the company in 2017 and rebranded to HPG Mechanical shortly thereafter. Michael Edworthy had already been working as Operations Manager at Hank’s Plumbing since 2009. Michael continues to manage the company and embraces the same family values on which Hank Froese built the business.

HPG Mechanical provides plumbing, heating, gasfitting and HVAC services to residential and commercial customers within Calgary and area (Airdrie, Crossfield, Strathmore, High River, Okotoks, and Cochrane). We believe in training our staff to be generalists who can fix anything mechanical.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain both residential and commercial plumbing systems
  • Install, repair, and maintain both residential and commercial water treatment systems
  • Install, repair, and maintain both residential and commercial underground sanitary and potable water distribution piping systems
  • Perform manufacturers specified preventative maintenance procedures on customer equipment
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers through proper communication and quality of work
  • Participate in the emergency service on-call rotation
  • Comply with HPG's Plumbing Safety Standards and OH&S legislation
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to make effective technical decisions in emergency situations

Requirements

  • Hold a journeyman certificate with experience.  Also willing to take 3 or 4th year apprentices.
  • Have the functional capability to service, repair, and install building mechanical systems
  • Have working technical knowledge of water treatment equipment, potable water distribution piping, sanitary drainage piping, storm drainage piping, plumbing fixtures, hydronic heating systems, water heaters, etc.
  • Have working technical knowledge of local building codes, local plumbing codes, and local natural gas installation codes.
  • Have current Alberta Driver License with record in good standing
  • Provide criminal background check
  • Be highly motivated with a strong customer service focus
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills
