Back To School, Back To Business, Back To hiring!!

Today, kids across the country are heading back to school, summer vacations are wrapping up, and for many businesses, September marks a return to a more normal pace.

It also traditionally marks the beginning of one of the busiest hiring periods of the year.

July and August can be challenging months to hire. Hiring managers are away, candidates are on vacation, interviews get postponed and decisions that should take days can stretch into weeks.

    September changes that.

People are back at their desks. Projects that were put on hold over the summer start moving again. Companies begin looking at what needs to get accomplished before year end, and suddenly those open positions become a priority again.

For employers, September and October can be an important window.

If you've been struggling with an open position all summer, now may be the time to put some additional effort behind it. That could mean expanding your candidate search, actively sourcing passive candidates, improving how you're promoting the opportunity or simply getting some help managing the volume of applications.

For job seekers, September can also be a good time to re-engage.

Update your resume. Take another look at your LinkedIn profile. Reconnect with recruiters and companies you've spoken with previously. Don't assume that a position you looked at earlier in the summer is no longer available.

The Canadian job market has certainly had its challenges this year, and August gave us another disappointing employment report.

    But September feels different.

    School is back.

    Vacations are over.

Business is getting back to business.

And hopefully, hiring is about to do the same.

At Canadahires, we're ready for a busy fall.

Whether you need help recruiting for a difficult position, managing and screening applicants, or simply getting your opportunity in front of more candidates, we're here to help.

    We help companies hire better.
