Job Requirements

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and adjust manual and/or CNC lathes to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T, and work instructions to ensure accurate machining.
• Select, install, and maintain appropriate tooling, cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
• Perform machine setups, tool offsets, and program adjustments (for CNC machines) to optimize production efficiency and part quality.
• Monitor machining operations, making necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and dial indicators.
• Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and identify opportunities to improve cycle times, tooling performance, and overall productivity.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Accurately complete production records, inspection reports, and other required documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 2+ years of experience operating manual lathes, CNC lathes, or a combination of both in a precision machining or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
• Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
• Experience setting up machines, selecting tooling, and producing precision parts to tight tolerances.
• Familiarity with CNC programming, editing, or tool offsets is considered an asset for CNC machinists.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machining and quality issues.
• Knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and materials.
• Committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
